1. Open MS Word 2003
2. Go to “Tools”
3. Then go to “Options”
4. Then “Edit”
5. Check mark “Typing replaces selection”

1. Open MS Word 2007
2. Click on 
3. Then click on “Word Options” at the right bottom corner
4. Now click on “Advanced” button
5. Check mark “Typing replaces selection” the very first one
